[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Romy Gas Tube Length

Of my 5 Romy kits one has a gas tube 1/4 in or so shorter than the others, too short to fit the others. And its the only one with a tube with a number that doesn't match the barrel, trunnion and bolt. Found out when I assembled it, put the mismatched tube in the wrong rifle - panic time! Looks fine on the correct but mismatched barrel, though.

What gives?

I'm not aware of any country that consistantly made gas tubes the exact same length throughout their years of production. My experience has been that there is some small length variations between gas tubes.

yea, but a 1/4"?

Sounds like a good candidate for a pistol build.
