I've got a 100% receiver that I've completed and if I decided to send it off to a builder to do the final assymbly and finishing. How do I go about shipping the parts to the builder? I'm going to presume that whom ever I choose to finalize the build will be an FFL of course. I think that goes without saying. 1.) Can I pack up my 100% receiver, parts kit and everything I want assembled and ship it directly to the builder? 2.) Since I've built my own receiver - Can the builder then ship the complete rifle back to me w/o having to go through an FFL? In my head and all the reading I've done, My own answers to these questions would be Yes. But I was wanting a little help to make sure that I completely understand the legal process of doing this. I've normally just purchased my firearms and dealt with FFL's face to face. I'm completely new to the building realm. Thanks, DK |

I know that if you had purchased a 100% receiver then there would be no problems at all.... you send the receiver and kit directly to the builder and he sends the completed rifle directly back to you. Being that you made the receiver yourself and that it never went through an FFL to begin with, I really don't know. I'd send an email to the builder and see what they say. ETA: Why aren't you just building the rifle yourself? You've already done the hardest part by making your own receiver. |
I guess that would be the best option. Just contact the builder that I end up deciding on. They should know the Do's and Do Not's. I'll have two completed receivers and I'm kinda antsy on getting them done. My time lately has not allowed me to move along in the process much further. I'll keep one receiver and completely finish it myself later, but kinda want one done sooner than I can manage to do. If I have to go through FFL's - then I'll wait and do them all myself. One of my main reasons is to have them completely FFL transaction free. DK |
