Ok, I am ALMOST done with my first build!  I am ready to install my rear trunion.  My question is regarding the long rivet.  How should I install it? Should I peen it or squash it with a bench vise?

I'm worried about missing and denting my receiver and also I don't like the look of the long rivets all that much.

I am really considering drilling shallow holes and pounding in a short rivet on each side instead.  I think i would like the look a lot better, but will it work? How deep should I drill the holes?

I might even be willing to try U-Drives for this part if anyone has a few I can get from them...

Thanks

I did the two longs on my Yugo with a bench vise.  I had two bolt heads that had nice cups in the top already and used one on each side.  The factory head stayed round and the work head formed nicely.   There was no deformation of the receiver.
