OK from what Ive read so far you can purchase flats which are without a serial number and its legal to own but not sale them. Second where can I purchase a 100% stamped recievers. and are these romy kits anygood from Tapco. Other than that I have no clue how it goes together or If any gunsmiths in the area know how to put it together.

Yes you can make your own receiver from a flat or a pre-bent blank, after it is bent it is a firearm and you cannot legally sell it. Those parts kits from TAPCO are good from my experience but can be had from many other sources as well for about the same money.(last I heard all TAPCO had was cut barrel kits left, but I may have been misinformed) A good source for 100% receivers is www.nodakspud.com, check out the NDS-3. You will need an FFL holder to do the transfer of the 100% receiver to you. Hope this helps.

Dont be afraid.

I built ARs for years, and this is much more challenging and rewarding.

Its always fun on the "DARK SIDE"

If you get a 100% receiver +- 80% of the work is done.

As Free said above, Building an AK is far more challenging and rewarding than assembling an AR.

Also, much like reloading your own ammo, you won't save any money. But that same amount of dollars goes alot further.

Not counting tool costs (I made my own from scrap metal, you can too) I can literally build 4 kits from flats for less that the price of an AR. Not meant as a slam, just pointing out a fact.
