I finally had a chance to measure the barrels on my 2 Maadis. These are both post-bans, and had the muzzle threads turned completely off. I checked in other threads and found out that you need a barrel outside diameter of about .50 inches to do a 1/2x28 threading. My two barrels measured out to about 7/16." I know this is not exact because I had to use a tape measure and eyeball it, but do I have any options for threading these barrels, or are they permanently doomed to be naked?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

i seem to recall a pin-on threading adapter you could buy for post-ban rifles. although i hate to admit i dont remember where i saw them...try doin a search and they should come up. they were just like a pin-on muzzle break (like for on an SKS for example) but had threads so you could put on anything you wanted. good luck

It all depends on what you'll be doing with those evil threads.  If just for cosmetics, thread it for whatever threading in 7/16 you can find cheap.  If just a simple flash hider, you can turn it down a bit, drill out a 1/2x28 bolt and solder it on.  If you need more critical alignment, turn it down, weld on a bushing, then thread between centers.

If you could thread the barrel 1/2x28, Global Trades has slant comps in that thread pitch.

What's about heli-coil?  Instead of using it internally, thread the barrel the same as the inside of the coil.  Heli-coil can be soldered or locktited.

Thanks for the suggestions. Anyone have any other ideas? I think I may go with threading the barrel and fitting a "collar" or muzzle nut and then locking it in place, then threading the outside of that with a standard AK left hand. The hard part for me will be getting time to do it. Oh well, that'll be a project for summer break.
