I've just finished my first build and I'm now in the "make it purty" stage.  I'll probably just sand it, then Dura.  I've built it on a Global Trades reciever and the sn. is not punched very deep.  How do I keep from obscuring the number with the sanding and paint?

Thanks

When you say "sanding", are you referring to sand paper or using a sandblaster?  I've sandblasted Global receivers and never had a problem with the serial number disappearing on me.

blasting "shouldn't" remove the SN..  I have never seen it..  but I am not going to say that a really determined person couldn't do it.....

I sand/glass blast all of my builds that are not blued and I have never removed any numbers that are needed for identification. Yes, you can remove anything you want to with a sandblaster from a metal surface if you are determined to do so. All you want to do is prep the surface for a new finish, not alter the equipment........

I've duracoated my DD forend on my AR two times with a total of about 4 coats and can still read the laser engraving- same on the LMT upper.  I supposed you are putting on a nice and heavy coat though...
