I've been using Cobalt drill bits and cutting oil, but my drill bits are burning up, am I drilling at too high of a speed or should I get differant drill bits? TIA

Cobalt drill bits are nice, and what I prefer. If you're using a drill press, use the lowest speed as your bits are getting dulled quickly, overheating and probably turning a blue color. I highly recommend a Drill Doctor for those that drill a lot. It's like having a new sharp bit every time.

I might add that you also want to use only moderate pressure when drilling. If a bit is sharp it will cut without undue force. And it's easy to over-force the bit with a press.

Don't push too hard and cut slower with more oil... can't do much more than that.

all good info.  moderate pressure is the way to go.  set the speed so that when you use moderate pressure the drill but cuts those nice long spirals of steel.
