Will a 1" deep rivet squeezer work on an akm build or does it need to be deeper.

I'm unaware of any commercially available rivet squeezer that will work on a AK.

Either the modified bolt cutters or one of Plinker762's  jigs is the way to go.

Brown's Aviation supply is not too far from my home. I took a barrel trunion over there to check out a Tatco rivet tool. The whole set up with several heads was $250+. It would only get the front trunion and not that easily.
My advice is to use the Pookster's method of a bolt cutter modified to a rivet squeezer, It works great and is much cheaper.
