Im looking at the flats on DPH Arms. They say they are for "single hook triggers". What does this mean, and what kits can I us it for? Will his Romy kits work with it and are they worth the money? Also, are all of the parts in the kit everything I'll need for a fully functional gun (other than the screws/rivets)? Sorry for all the questions and thanks for the help. P.S. Is there anyone in Houston that would like to help a newbie with a first build, or know of any build parties in the Houston area? Thanks again. |

I've compared the flats that DPH has to the tapco flats and they appear to me to come from the same manufacturer, I used the tapco flats on my builds, and their kind of soft and bend really easy, I built a romie on one and it works fine, used the tapco double hook ak compliance kit to make it legal, the romie kits make great truck guns as all the kits I've seen are kind of rough but good shooters, and they all have had canted fst/gasblocks, but shot where they were aimed. |
| Scott's flats only have the cutout for single hook fcg's. If you desire to put a double hook fcg in your receiver after you fold it all you have to do is take a file or a dremel tool and open up the little slot for the second hook on your double hook fcg. It's as easy as it sounds. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention.... Scott is one of the best guys out there to deal with. No bullshit. |

Yep, Scott at DPH is pretty good to deal with! Making your own receiver from a flat is definitely worth doing. How many rounds will it last I can't really say. I've built one Romy - from Scott! - on a DPH flat/receiver and it works fairly well. The receiver is not fully hardened - only the ejector and axis holes are heat treated - so it has "dinged" fairly easily but still works fine. You are not going to get a "beaut" on your first build but can get a good functional AK fairly easy! The "beaut" comes along maybe on the 5th, 6th, or 7th build! |

Hey Man, The flats have only one side of the trigger slot cut for the single hook trigger. You can open the other side up and use Double hook trigger. Either one of them work fine. Anything you can build on a standard AK reciever can use the single or double hook trigger. Guess it all adds up to a matter of prefrence. I like the double hooks though. - Zap |
