Are there any flats made in the USA? or are they from overseas hence neding to be 922r compliant on the build? I want to build an AK but was not sure about the kilts available. |
So the kits are import. I was wondering if anyone made a kit here in the USA. I guess the recievers are originating overseas. I am not trying to argue, just confused about building AKs here in the US. So far I understand that. If I get a flat kits made here in the USA, its still subject to 922r becuase AK is an overseas weapon? or because the spare parts like the barrel and stuff are import? Man I confused myself a bit. I think I got it now. The model AK47 and look alikes were on the list so any and all copies of said weapons are under 922r regardless of where actual reciever was made. Is that right? And finally, do I need any paperwork to send in to do it? Easier question, is there a good page one can recommend? |

Jesus Christ on a crutch! It's not that complicated. Flats are made in the US. Parts kits are imported. Use a flat and it counts as a US part. There's no paperwork to send in. I think if you want to sell it later that you have to get it serialed first. I don't know what's involved in that.

Thanks for the info. |
Wildboar, I am probably going to regret this comment, but I noticed that you have logged 4076 posts since October 2004. That is an average of 17 posts per day by my calculations. Therefore that means that you must read a lot of posts in order to respond that many times per day. Point is, are you just now getting to the AK side of the forum? Since October of 2004 there have been volumes written on the subject of your post here. I don't mean to offend, but my chain jerking alert went off. rto |
