I'm thinking about chucking the AMD 65 forward P.G. and mounting a "standard" forend set.
The lower looks easy, a bit of dremel work to shave some material.
The upper looks to be "short" for a standard insert, and I'm not sure about what metal retainer to get to hold/position the forward nose.
I've seen many pictures showing that some of you have gone the same route.
Any tips or advice that you can tell me to shorten my search?
I've read that a Romanion retainer plate is needed, true?

Thanks to all.

basicly any retainer will work (well any but the 1 you have )
and for the top just get a norm gas tube cut it about 3/16 longer than you need it
heat the end red hot and beat a 3/8 extention into the hole
you will also need to remove alittle from other end and from the inside of tube about 1 inch in

Thanks for the info SoCandyman.
I didn't see a good way to use the tube that I had. A new custom tube makes sense.

Its really not that hard to do. I just cut it down to size and used a socket extension to flare out the end.
