Gentlemen, I have a China NHM 91 with a non-welded thread protector that I want to remove. The normal detent does not move as it must be a solid bar with NO SPRING. How do I correct this problem or where can I send the gun to have it corrected? Do I just drive out the forward FSB pin and order a replacement pin w/spring from (somewhere in the USA) to replace it or what? I am converting this gun with US parts and want to utilize the already threaded barrel for some neat brake etc. I can post a pic if necessary. Thanks in Advance...MadDog in GA |
| MadDog I think I have the same thing as you. My NHM91 came with a 74 brake on it and the pin will not move back but it has some play in it. Like there is room in the hole for a spring. I looked at globaltrades.com and they have a detent pin and spring for $6. Let me know how your project works out. |

NOTE: The Chinese pins are TIGHT. Much more so than Euro builds. Been there, done that. There probably IS a spring in there. Was in mine. Hammer out that front cross pin. With that done, there is enough play to remove the nut. Next, remove the detent pin. IF it is like mine, they just turned it around. Turn it back around and you'll see that there is a space - similar to the firing pin design - that allows it to move front-to-back using the cross pin as the retainer. Insert a spring, reinstall the cross pin, and you're set. Should be able to figure it out, not too terribly hard once you get that pin to move! K-Var sells that spring. I've wondered before if a ballpoint pen spring would work, but never bothered to try it. hth, - Jerry |
