I think I may be tempted to install an m203 style 37mm grenade launcher on my AMD when its complete. Anybody know of any legal issues here? Or have any advice on doing this? Also, I was thinking.... Would it be legal to mount a shotgun on an "assault" rifle like in the movie predator? If the "masterkey" (shotgun mounted where grenade launcher would be) setup is legal I may just have to do it..... Im really just exploring the possibilities right now... So what do u guys think??? Am I crazy? Thanks Gus Mascari |
Check out this site: http://www.ak-47.us/GP-30.php I ran across this while I was surfing for AK stuff... |

NOPE the GP-30 is illegal to import in to the US. Department of the Treasury Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Oct 16 2003 Dear Mr. XXX: This refers to your letter of June 30, 2003 to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in which you ask about importing a deactivated Russian GP-30 Grenade Launcher advertised by FSU Connections Ltd, in the United Kingdom at www.rusmilitary.com. The Russian GP-30 Grenade Launcher is a destructive device and a firearm subject to the provisions of Title 18, United States Code, Chapter 44 and Title 26, U.S.C. Chapter 53, the National Firearms Act (NFA). It is unlawful for a person to possess a Russian GP-30 Grenade Launcher in serviceable or unserviceable condition unless it is registered to such person in accordance with the provisions of the National Firearms Act. It is unlawful for anyone to import a Russian GP-30 Grenade Launcher, or parts for a Russian GP-30 grenade launcher without an approved Application and Permit for Importation of Arms, Ammunition and Implements of War (ATF Form 6). However, it is prohibited from importation under 18 U.S.C. section 925 (d) and 26 U.S.C. section 5844 unless it is imported for government use. It does have a firearm frame or receiver that is also prohibited from importation. Further, this firearm is not listed among the Russian firearms approved for importation under Title 27, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 478, section 478.52 (formerly Part 47, section 47.52) therefore the firearm and all parts and components of the firearm are prohibited from importation into the United States. We thank you for your inquiry and trust that the foregoing has been responsive. Sincerely yours, Sterling Nixon Chief, Firearms Technology Branch Here are some pictures that the ATF took from the sample received. www.atf.gov/firearms/firearmstech/gp-30_sa.pdf But you can try, but you'd go to jail. I hasve been wanting one of these for years but I'm not going to spend $400. and lose my rights if caught. Although, getting it without the barrel would be a different thing all together...... I knew when I read this it sounded fishy:
Just another good example of a reason to not trust a source that is trying to get your money when it comes to legal issues! |

Whats up Well these are my two cents on your idea of mounting a 37mm launcher to an amd65 i'm new to this site but have been a fanatic of firearms for many years. Everyone has their own opinion of what looks cool on a firearm, i dont see the point of mounting a launcher to the gun (thats just my opinion) i mean when will you use it, so the only reason i could think to put one on is for the cool looking factor, i bought a 6 shot semi auto 37mm a few years ago after seeing terminator 2 then when i watched the movie again he actually had a 12 shot to my dissapointment, nontheless it was a cool looking 37 launcher, i never shot it once, but then again i live in the city so not many places to shoot such weapons, so with your idea in hand if you want something that looks cool and original i would try one of the new airsoft GP-30 launchers, i've seen a few on airsoft sites before, i'm sure with some minor fitting you could mount one to a live gun and you would be within the law, just an idea for you http://www.cobraairsoft.com/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=1464] |
