| I Had finally decided to go with Global Trades for a receiver. I think the receiver configuration 4 would be the best for me since it is my first build. How does the FFL thing work with Global Trades? Who should I contact first, a local gunshop or Global Trades? Also on average what is the transfer price? |

I went through the same process. Find a FFL dealer and have him send in an ink copy to Global. Once Global has the copy they will start your order. You can give them all your info but they won't build until they have paper. They lost my dealers first copy which wasted 2 weeks. I would call Global and get their exact address. I'm getting the type 3. No receiver is perfect but looks like Global is good stuff minus the grinding |

You can call Global a week after your FFL sends it in to make sure they got it. Remember to reference the FFL business name. This isn't quick. Once they get your FFL's license it's another 3 weeks before they ship. At least in my case I got mine park. Can't beat it for $8. It's a light more greyer than the parts kit. I might gun kote it or use that moly resin in the future. Now I just need a free weekend to finish it. I hear Global is going to come out with a 1mm receiver. Rumors range from a few weeks to a few months. Always an option but the main thing is getting your FFL on file. |
Yeah, that would be OK. Actually I did talk to Global Trades first, just to get some info. Then I went to a local pawn shop to do the FFL transfer. He charged me $35 for the paperwork. I called Global after a week to verify that they had the proper documents, then I placed my order over the phone. I ordered the Type 2 blued receiver for $69.99. The pawn shop called me when the receiver came in, and I filled out the 4473 when I picked it up. Once I milled the barrel trunion and the rear folding stock bracket everything fit like a glove. Definitely a quality receiver, A+++++ |
