without drilling holes for the setscrew to go into i would expect it to fly off

I wouldn't want to be the first guy to try it or even standing next to him when he did.

I don't really thinkg Brownell's would sell it it if was dangerous crap. Personally, I would chill the muzzle in a bucket of ice and warm up the adapter before screwing it down really tight so that when it is at normal temp it should be an even tighter fit, and tighter still when firing because the BBL should heat up before the adapter.

My bro had his set-screw attached muzzle brake fly off last year.  Never did find it, and didn't realize it was gone until later.

The only way I would use it would be to either indent the barrel for the set screws to have a lip to bite against, and loctite them into place.

I had an Olympic AR with a set screw brake that never loosend. But If I were using this I would find a way to make a "lip" Or "whole" for those screws to set in. Once around with a pipe cutter maybe?

Why not just spend the money towards actually getting the barrel threaded?

Cause in some states its still illegal (not sure about VT)

The instructions I have seen for some of these adapters, cant remember where, specifically stated to drill dimple in the barrel for the set screw to sit in.  FWIW.

Gun laws here are pretty lax it seems.  The local cops dont seem to mind the brake on my M4Best course of action would be to have the barrel threaded for sure.  But no sure how much that would run and if there is anyone around to do it.
