What is the proper method to install the Mag Catch and spring ? What size Bit do I need for the hole ? Is the Hole location different between a AK-74 and an AKM ? TIA |

the length of the catch lever and pivot hole location vary slightly from country to country. i have only had to drill out one trigger guard, and i located the pivot hole by measuring an ak i had on hand. remember, it is better to err on the side of "we have material left to remove" than to come up short and have a latch lever that needs welded up. therefore, try to located your hole .015" up and forward...and dress the lever top off as required. the drill bit size to use is the same size as the pivot pin to .003" smaller (the bit will drill oversize!). assembly is easiest if you use a 1/8" diameter x 1" long pin as a 'dummy' to help keep the spring and lever together as you insert the pivet pin into place. |
