I am going to put together a kit. I was wondering if the Hesse receivers are any good. I have heard mixed things about them, some good, some bad. Any suggestions? Don't want to build a gun on a POS receiver, so any input is welcomed. By the way where can you find the scope side rail mount and rivets? Also is there a method that uses screws instead of rivets, how does that work and where can you but them.

                               Thanks

Don't do it.....my advice.  No one will want to buy your rifle if you ever decide to sell, etc.

i have built 2 rifles up on hesse stamped akm receivers...no problems.

one was riveted together and one used threaded fasteners.

both the rec and screw together assembly methed worked fine.
drop me an email an i'll forward you the info i have on the screwed together assembly method.

the scope rail is available from tantal ([email protected]) or see his website at tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/

ask him to sell you the optic rail that screws onto the receiver, as opposed to riveting. i believe he carries both styles.

Thanks for the info. With the Hesse receivers I am mainly concerned with durability not resale value. Will they wear out in 2-3 thousand rounds? The ak will see a fair amount of usage so i don't want to have to replace the receiver any time soon.

                              Thanks again
