blackrifle.gunsnet.net/triggerslap.htm rifleman'e excellent "how to" picture illustrated procedure! |

rifleman removes material from the disconnector hook and this method works in most cases. However, I find it more effective to do what rifleman does, and then remove the shiny, peened area at the rear of the trigger floor between the spring arms. This is the spot where the disconnector hits the trigger, and removal of this peened area just behind the shallow disconnector spring recess will further ensure no more painful slap. I stay a couple millimeters behind the disconnector spring recess when filing the peened area on the trigger floor. Noah |

THE WEBSITE IS DOWN...I DO NOT KNOW WHY. basically, the fix involves removing the disconnector from the rifle. the rear "leg" of the discon is cut off flush with the vertical surface running up the back side of the hammer catch hook. then, the bottom/rear of the discon is radiused a bit in order to clear the trigger as the hammer, under cocking pressure, cannot drive it into the trigger. the discon's drive into the trigger is what causes the trigger to rotate forward and cause the painful "snap" to your trigger finger. |
