Got a couple builds that I'm waiting to put the last rear rivet in until I decide weather or not I'm going to put side rails on them. Don't really know if it's worth the hassle.  Don't have any mounts anyway. Was thinking of using a tws for an optic if I decided to use an one. Rails do look cool though.  Romy g kits.

Yes. If you don't use them they stay nicely out of the way. If you want one and don't have one, well...

Yes, it's not too much trouble and it doesn't bother me when I don't use it.

Try this also. It will work on a U/f but you have to remove it to close the
stock but a lot of people like it. http://www.akmastermount.com/

I did a side rail on my AK74, but I didn't rivet it. I used the rail that installs with button head screws instead, because I added the rail after the build and I was worried that I'd dent the receiver trying to get in there with my rivet tool.  It's been rock solid no complaints.

Russian Special ops run a PK-AS.  Great reddot with side mountable round.  Its very easy to do and adds minimal weight for the rail 2 rivets I believe.
