anyone have any ideas or jigs that would help press on a gas block while the barrel is still riveted in the receiver? I'm using a 20 ton press and I have it half way on but it looks like the barrel will start bending if I continue.

I'm thinking about taking it off and opening it up a little on the lathe? open it just enough that i still need to press it on but goes on easier. I am pinning it too.

Did you measure your parts in relationship to your barrel before pressing?

difference in barrel and gas block is 0.01" ... Too tight?

The barrel should be .001 - .002 larger than the trunnion.
Use anti-seize compound before you press it in
Make sure the barrel is perfectly vertical and the press is level
Look and see if the barrel is clearing the rivets.
Check out the Forbus barrel tools. Can't beat them.
That's all I got, good luck.

Way too tight.

I use a piece of black iron pipe with a brass coupling at the front, and an aircraft riveting hammer (controllable impact with tickle trigger).  I never apply any pressure to the barrel itself.  They will bend.
