This is a project I'm working on and I've never dealt with the side folder rear trunnion and latch before from a builders perspective. The only experience I have wis with the one on my slr106.
My question, do these latches require fitting to get the stocks to lock in the open position. Basically when I mock things up in the rear trunnion with both the polymer folder as well as the skeleton stock, the claw portion of the latch will not go into the stock and it sticks out rather than sitting flush with the receiver, it basically sticks out as if I'm pushing it to unlock It. Does material need to removed from the inside portion of the latch so that it can fit inside of the stock to lock it open? I don't wanna go and monkey with it to make it fit if there's a proper way to fit it that I'm not seeing here. Basically I can make it lock I just don't wanna file it down unless that is the norm. |

If it's on both the polymer and the metal stocks, the common denominator is your latch. Assuming you have all the right pieces, you may just have a latch slightly out of alignment with the mating surface. If you can, try to see where it's encountering interference; that may show where any fitting is needed.
Cover the surface with black marker, try to close it firmly, then open it up and see where the mark is removed or muddied. If you need to fit it, file down the part of the mark that shows contact, then remark and try again. If it looks like there's a substantial amount of fitting required, probably a good idea to stand fast and compare your parts to any others on hand or online. |
