(Compare that to the Egyptian kit I bought in 2008 with barrel for $200) You'd need a kit+barrel+receiver+922r parts Back in the day... they used to be 89$ and included the barrel. It's not just because of the panic, its partly due to market conditions, how many get imported, and that they can no-longer be imported with barrels, etc. So, were they cheaper? Yes. Will the price come down? Depends on market forces. If some guy in a former combloc country finds 100 conexes full of AKs that can be chopped up and imported, the price will drop. On the other hand, that same guy can strangle the supply chain and only export a few of them because he knows schmucks will pay $500+ for the parts kits. |

Should not make a difference for the receiver, people use AK47 and AKM interchangeably even though they are different rifles.
Barrels cost around 100$ Look for an AK47 barrel, preferably something chrome lined if you can find it. 922r parts... that depends on which parts you use to satisfy 922r. You can't have more than 10 imported parts from a specific list. More info on that and the list of parts here.
