| First question. Compared to an ar15, harder or easier. 2nd question, can someonwdirect me to a instoxk lower?! |

The kits out there nowadays are pretty lame - no barrels and the ones theat you can find are either overpriced or have non-chromelined US copies.
I think you're a few years late bud, but give it a shot. Also they don't have lowers or uppers. It's just called a receiver. Try No Dak Spud for a receiver. And yes, they are harder to build than an AR. An AR is akin to lego, whereas AK build require more specialized tools to rivet the trunnions, press in the barrels and refinish. |

Yes the AK is a little harder to build than the AR because the AK is a build not an assembly like the AR.
If you are looking for receivers you could try the NoDak or this page for 47 & 74 receivers. http://www.ohioordnanceworks.com/Firearms/OOWExclusiveFirearms/AKReceivers.cat And in an AK it is called a receiver not a lower. |

Kinda missed the boat on this one, but as far as level of difficulty that all depends on what you plan to do. If you are gonna roll your own and use rivets, then tooling up is going to be the hardest part. None of the tasks required to build an AK are "hard" per se, it just takes the right tooling. Without the right stuff or half ass built tools it could be a bitch and suck a lot of the fun out. Also these days the kits blow, and are expensive, which is contrary to why I got into buillding in the first place, back then kits/parts were flowing like water and were cheap. Just my $0.02.
Building an AR is like building a lego kit, quick fun and easy with minimal to no specialized tools required (exluding starting from an 80%). |
| Well ive been thinking about this. And since km in maryland after oct 1 we wont be ablw to buy any type of assult rifle. And since ak's are going for about 1200 in state, I think I may just buy a reciever anf sit on it untill things calm down, and so what I can and whatever I cant, just take to a gun smith. |
