I have an 80% folded receiver coming tomorrow, and next week or so a Bulgarian parts kit from sportsmansguide. I am pretty sure I need to find the bolt guide rails for the receiver, and a barrel, and that's it right? Can anyone tell me if I am missing anything, besides rivets?
My major question is, I found a Romanian barrel on aa-ok. Are they any good? I have never dealt with them before. Does anyone have any advice for finding a barrel for this build? Thanks in advance. |

That is a 5.45x39 barrel on AA-OK if that is what your kit is.
Don't for get to do a legal AK build you will need at least six 922r compliance parts in your build. If you don't know what 922r is here is a little info. http://gunwiki.net/Gunwiki/BuildAkVerifyCompliance |

A rommy barrel is just fine. I used one to build a hun amd65 it turned out just fine. reading comprehension. the romy barrel in question is 5.45, the kit is 7.62. does not mate. OP, look at ak-builder.com for barrels as well as the tooling you'll need to complete the build. |
| there's no such thing as an AK-47 built on a stamped receiver. The AK-47 was a milled receiver. Stamped receivers turned the designation into the AKM rifle. If you're doing a stamped build, it's an AKM. If something's advertised as an "AK-47" blank or flat or what have you, it's either ignorance or just assurance that it's intended for a 7.62x39mm build. |

there's no such thing as an AK-47 built on a stamped receiver. According to Wikipedia there is: AK-47 1948–51, 7.62×39mm – The very earliest models, with the Type 1 stamped sheet metal receiver, are now very rare. AK-47 1952, 7.62×39mm – Has a milled receiver and wooden buttstock and handguard. Barrel and chamber are chrome plated to resist corrosion. Rifle weight is 4.2 kg (9.3 lb). |

Ok cool. This helps a lot. So I have seen some parts kits that need a milled receiver. That's what the akm is for, even thought it isn't actually milled. Now I think I want to buy another parts kit and blank and I don't even have my first one in AKM = AK modernized http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AKM If you are wanting to get a kit to go with the AK74 barrel you found try here. https://www.royaltigerimports.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=92&Itemid=154#ecwid:category=2274717&mode=category&offset=0 If you want to build it on a 100% receiver try here. http://www.ohioordnanceworks.com/Firearms/OOWExclusiveFirearms/AKReceivers.cat |

I have purchased a milled Bulgarian ak47 kit minus barrel/trunnion (I know there are no trunnions for a milled receiver as they are the ends of the milled receiver). I purchased a 80% Polish folded receiver with center rivet and rails. I also purchased an Egyptian ak47 front trunnion block and a Bulgarian ak74 rear trunnion for use with stamped receiver. I purchased a barrel from K-Var for a Bulgarian classic 7.62x39 and it is supposed to fit the Milled parts kit and will fit into an Egyptian ak47 front trunnion.
So it looks like I will be able to have the receiver heat treated, drill my holes, and then the parts will be ready to assemble into a mostly Bulgarian AK47 stamped rifle (added 922r compliance parts for trigger group, stock, and etc). |

well then weld and fabricate your own receiver.
sorry i tried to help. have fun. It is on my list to make an ak receiver by welding sides to bottom and etc sometime and to build the same for an AR lower Here is a 3 piece flat that you need to weld instead of bend since you are wanting to do it that way. Good Luck with your build. http://theflatspot.weebly.com/ak-47-receiver-flat---3-piece---fixed-stock.html |
