[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Is this Possible

I have a milled AK receiver that was made to accept a Romanian kit. My question is, would it be possible to get this to work for an AK74 platform and have it shoot 5.45? I wasn't sure because of the difference in extractors and the fact that it is milled. Thanks

Anything is possible if you throw enough money at it.

The hardest issue to solve is barrel diameter.
The Romanian barrel is 23mm
A 5.45 barrel is going to be 22mm

That is a nice looking receiver...what kinds of kits are you considering putting on it!

Well, that stinks about the 5.45 barrel. I just picked a Saiga in 7.62 about a month ago and I've come to really like the AK platform. I've always been an AR guy and have always liked the AK's but I've never owned one. I haven't given much thought to what kit I want to go with but I do know that the receiver was made to accept a Romanian kit. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated, I'm still learning about the AK's and all the stuff that is out there for them.

you could have a 5.45 barrel blank profiled with an appropriately sized journal and the rest according to a standard 5.45 profile
