I'd thought there was a thread with this explained already, but does anyone have photos of how they assembled and/or affixed the guide rod, in their Guide Rod build?

How did you mate it to the cover latch?

Has anyone used a smaller inner spring, to make up for the shorter barrel?

Thanks in advance.

I silver soldered the rod to the center of the rear spring latch, and I had to cut the recoil spring just about in half to get it to work.

Thanks, PB - I also though someone had drilled the latch so that the patch knob acted as a retainer.

I drilled a hole and tig welded the rod. Used a piece of cleaning rod.  Machined a gas piston and pressed it into the carrier and tacked.

What is this, "Guide Rod Build"?  Is there info here about it? When I built my first AK Pistol, the gas piston had to be shortened, is this guide rod mod something new for pistol builds? Don't want to sound like a noob, because I'm not, but somehow I've missed this.......               / Not!!

When you go so short that the piston leaves the guide tube then you need a guide rod.  There is about 1" of barrel in front of the bullet on my gun.  My kit came with a cut barrel so thats what started mine.
