Question for the hive; doing my first AK build and looking to reduce my dependance on purchased jigs, etc. since it will likely be my only build. (I can't afford to get addictied to this!) I've looked into the "U-drive" rivets, and haven't heard any bad remarks about them, and they would simplify things for me since I don't have a press or access to one. (yes I've been asking around locally, everyone freaks when I tell them what I need it for)
Can you use the U-drive rivets for the trigger guard install? It looks like they work for every other application but I haven't heard mention of the TG being installed that way.
Also, do you head space a virgin barrel the same way you do one that is already drilled for the barrel pin? I've looked at the videos but there doesn't seem to be one for a virgin barrel install. Thanks in advance.

you can use regular rivets.  You don't have to have a press or weird tools.  But you do have to make the wirecutter rivet tool, which is cheap.  Otherwise you just need a vise and a BFH.  It will take longer and it is more difficult,  but I fear using the U-drives on the front trunnion.
