Hey all, been reading a lot, here and on the web, so thatnks for all the advice already.  I'm working on my second build, a polish underfolder kit.  I've been crushing my rivets with the modified bolt cutters, other than a little trial and erro, going well.  This latest build, on NDS receiver I'm stuck on the rear trunion.  I'm trying to reach the bottom two rivets, and so far I've ground down a lot on the bolt cutters and I'm barely about to reach.  Anyone have any advice, or do I just grind away until it fits.  Thanks for the help!

I went to a build party where they had a 12 ton press. I never tried the bolt cutters.

What length cutters are you using? I know exactly what your talking about! I recently did a Yugo underfolder and have a modified set of 24" harbor freight cutters, I had to grind a deep V into the plates to get more reach to get to those rivets.

I'm using 24inch bolt cutters, and yeah it seems like I'm gonna have to start grinding the plate.  Guess I should just jump in...

I think I had to trim some of the outside of the jaws and the plates to clear as well. I took the V as far as I could and it was still a streach but it worked. Good luck!

Thanks for the moral support.  I took about 1/4 inch out of the plate and that was enough to reach.  Not pretty enough for gunplumber, but it's my homebuilt AK, and I"m sure it'll hold up just fine.  I'll post some pics once I get the final fitting done.  Thanks!
