I know this goes against my better judgment even asking, but here goes....
My friend decided, against my warning, to do a little trigger work on his WASR before I get there to help. We put it back together, and it has a super super light and crisp pull, and if you hold the trigger in, upon operating the bolt, the disconnecter catches the hammer as it's supposed to. Now, here's the part I had to ask about, upon slowly releasing the trigger, like to hit the reset for the next shot, when the disconnecter releases, the sear misses the hammer and the gun would fire. Now, we didn't shoot it yet, but I told him not to because there's a chance of the gun slam firing.... Any comments? Or should I just take the gun and not give it back until he buys a new trigger group? lol

I had one like that and it would in fact fire a round when the trigger was pulled and fire another when I released the trigger. Can't remember why I did anything to the trigger group, just that it would do that. It was fun, but at the same time could have been very scary if you didn't know what was going on. It is without any doubt a malfunctioning FCG and something that needs to be fixed. In my case I chopped up my mistake and put another FCG in without any problems. When working with AKs you learn something new all the time. Unless you are in some sort of legal authority over the person it is their problem (whether you help or not, it's up to you). |

You should be able to salvage the trigger.
It's an easy thing to remove a little material off of the base of the front of the disconnector. This will allow the disconnector to sit further forward, and close the "hole" your friend made by shortening the trigger hooks. |

That depends on how big the gap is, and the specific geometry of the FCG in question. It is quite likely that you can induce severe trigger slap by doing this. I would say that anyone capable of PROPERLY doing such a mod knows this, which is why I didnt mention it, and why its probably best for the dremel monkey to just get a new FCG. |

I suppose you're right. I should have said I could probably salvage that trigger. It's easy for me to forget that not everyone has access to the tools and abilities that I do. |

sounds dangerous.
