I had a Saiga conversion done for me, and the more I have checked it out the more I have found that the guy who did it paid no attention to detail.
The compensator doesn't have the detent installed in the front sight base. It also doesn't have the second retainer pin for the front sight block installed in the front sight base. Lastly, the retainer plate for the hand guards does not have a sling loop on it. I'm not going to go back to the guy because it's just going to take forever to get him to make it right, if I can even convince him to make it right, which is not a certainty. This is small shit so I am just going to fix it myself. Here are my questions: 1. Are the plunger pin and front sight block retainer pin universal or do I have to get specific manufacture to match the front sight base that I have? 2. Is there a way to replace the retainer plate for the hand guards without removing the gas block and front sight base, or do they have to come off? |

Dinzag (guy who sells excellent Saiga conversion parts - www.dinzagarms.com ) makes a bolt on design for the lower handguard front mount. You would need to dremel off the old, but wouldn't have to take off the gas block or front sight.
However I don't recall it it has a sling mount ring or not... BIGGER_HAMMER

+1 for Hammer,
I dont know what would go into taking off what ever handguard base you have on there now, but Dinzag has a upper hand guard retainer plate that bolts on... im actually waiting for mine right now otherwise I would tell you how that worked out for me on my Saiga conversion. I will however comment that the other stuff I ordered such as the gastube and nylon plugs are great and got here in a timely manner. |
