Okay, I was able to get out the spring for the buttstock cleaning kit, now I can't remember which side goes in first and can't get it back in.
Or should I just leave it out?

if i remember correctly, the big end goes in first..... you can leave it out if you want but it's pretty handy to have the cleaning kit right in the buttstock
