I am so confused, I have been building Romys for a while. I ordered a Yugo M70 kit ($120) from Apex a couple of weeks ago. It said it came with no butstock (which didn't bother me). So I just got into it tonight, I started to demill. I noticed there is no front or rear trunnion. WTF, it looks like a solid piece of metal for both ends. There are NO RIVETS and no trunnions! Am I missing something.

You have a milled rifle kit, not a stamped kit.  You can either build it on a new receiver, find stamped trunnions to build it with, or do a reweld.

You could probably find someone to trade you a stamped kit for the milled kit.  I know I have a few sitting around

Ive also seen where people will grind down the sides of the old receiver stub to make it fit inside a stamped receiver, then I guess weld it. Its a lot cheaper than buying a new milled receiver. I dont know if this will work with Yugos.

Well that clears it all up.  I have a milled kit.  So, there are two options I guess.

1. Get trunnions for rear and front to do the build.

2.  Try and grind (custom make) the front trunnion / rear, to fit in a new stamped rec.  Then drill and rivet the trunnions in place.

HAS ANYONE EVER USED A MILLED FRONT AND REAR TRUNION AND PUT IT IN A STAMPED REC?  CAN IT REALLY BE DONE???  CAN YOU JUST DRILL AND RIVET, OR WILL THE RIVETS BE TOO SMALL?

I've built a good number of AKM's on stamped receivers. Have not done a milled, but am very aware that you can take the front and rear stubs from the milled kit, clean them up and grind them down to fit inside a stamped receiver. You have to drill holes in the receiver, then weld the old milled stubs into place inside the stamped receiver, making sure your bolt locks up and headspaces correctly. In the end after finishing you have what looks like an AKM (stamped) but with no rivets or screws visible holding it together. My advice would be to get a milled receiver from Firing Line and just do a milled AK build. It's just as easy if not easier than riveting a build to a stamped receiver.

Sorry, getting trunions is not necessary an option you want to deal with as it would require more work to ensure it is properly headspaced.  Worked the milled receiver so it can fit in a stamped receiver or get a milled receiver (the quality may have you never building a stamped receiver ever again).
