New guy needing a little help with my build choices-

Option 1- order 5 of the improved flats with pre-bent top rails, and engineer a home-made way to bend them, sort of like the thread a few days back where the poster used a bench vise and some hand tools (no access to a press or jig, etc., unless I can get this build party of the ground...)  ~$100 or so by my count

Option 2- order 5 pre-bent blanks from Coldsteel and drill/dremel them as necessary (I have access to a drill press) ~$200

Option 3- order 5 NDS receivers and pay a transfer fee of $95 at a local FFL.  ~$295

As the expense goes up, the plans get easier.

Anyone ever use the pre-bent blanks?  I don't want the magwell and tg holes to look all jagged...

Pre-bent blanks suck, they are the most work of them all. They used to be more popular back in the day when you couldn't get a decent in-spec 100% receiver and nobody had flat bending jigs. Now there's not much reason to use them.

If you can afford it, buy a used flat bending jig, do your receivers, then sell it for what you paid for it. Otherwise just get the 100% receivers.
