I think i changed my mind, I think I am going to buy a complete rifle. By the time I get all the tools I'll have the price of the rifle in it. I already have an arsenal ak, I just wanted an undefolder.

Unless you have a build group near you or want to learn something fun it is best you just buy an AK rather than try to build one and save money because you honestly will not.

Thats what I figured out,  now, which is better. Yugo underfolder or polish?

I would personally go for the Polish.

I like the look better and it has a chrome lined bbl, unlike the yugo.

Same here.  I'm looking to have one completed chrome plated, we'll see how that goes.

6 one way and a half dozen the other.

Dont let the non-chromed barrel scare you.  The Yugo barrel will probably far out live you.  The Yugo will have the heavier receiver, a heavier barrel, and a few other trinkets the Polish kit wont have.

I have both, and like both.  But I prefer the "classic" looks of the Polish better, but wouldnt hesitate to wield either when the time comes.

Roll the dice.    Either way, you win.

I save money everytime I build.  There is no reason to buy all the ak jigs when you can make them on your own.  I think with all the supplies and buying a restoreit bolt cutter riveter I have $60 into all of my jigs.  I buy flats and get on a list on akfiles where they have a free rental flat bending jig.  So it costs me $9 to ship the flat to the next guy in the line.  Another forum member on the akfiles has the spot welder so I meet up with him and weld my rails.  My 12 ton press cost me $80 from Northern tool and that is really all the money I  put into my builds.  I buy rivets through a groupbuy every year and get enough to build 30 kits for around $60.  So if you look around and are willing to build your own tools and wait for a flat bending jig and bend ten or more flats, you can build for cheap.  Rommys can be built for under $200.  Even if you dont go the quantity route it is still cheaper to build your own.

Go on your hometown forum and I bet you can find a local guy that already has all the stuff that will be glad to help you out.
At least that is what happened to me.

I didnt buy any fancy tools for my builds, but I did already have a lot of the stuff: press, MIG welder, scrap steel.

I built my own flat bending jig, barrel pin remover, and barrel press fixtures.  $20 for a set of bolt cutters for the rivets.   The only thing I dont have is a NICE way to finish the metal.

I have one Romy with less than $150 invested.  Its not hard to do one for less than $200.  Even if you did buy some of the tools, you could recoup the cost by selling them when your done building.

If you want more than one AK, building is the way to go.
