| Anyone use the Lucas Extreme Duty gun oil. Was Given a bottle by my Gunsmith to try (he knows I run them hard) and so far I am very impressed. Have not had a chance to try to cook and bake it yet but will soon. |
| I haven't tried it, but don't even pay the premium for Slip2000 anymore. I have one bottle of Slip2000 left that I use on my "defense guns" but everything else gets Royal Purple synthetic motor oil. A quart is only a few bucks, and I have THOUSANDS of rounds through ARs using it without a single issue. |
| I tried a sample bottle. Was okay but nothing special and does nothing other gun oils don't. I read somewhere (can't remember which forum or publication) that if you check the MSDS, it is exactly the same as automotive labeled Lucas oil except with the grape smell added and about 4x the price. I'll stick with Slip. |

| I use synthetic g96. It has passed all the latest military testing. Does this mean it's the best? I won't go that far. What it DOES mean to me though is that it's not likely to do any bullshit Noone expects, like gum up, rot, cause hydrogen embrittlement, or anything else untoward. It also works very well for me, comparable to slip and others. |

Out of curiosity I bought some St. Clair Nano-Oil.
Cleaned all components of BCG and applied this oil over all of it. Cycled BCG a few times. Does seem very slick and smoother. Either perception or real. Range time today, will be interesting to see what the carbon buildup is compared to other oils I have used (BF CLP and MPro7). UPDATE: My shell spit direction changed from 3:00ish to about 3:30ish. Felt a little more recoil. Charging handle pull a little easier. When I cleaned the gun afterwards, I just wiped it off to see how much would come off, most of it did easily. I got the 85 weight oil.  When I took BCG out it was still covered. Pew Pew'ed about 100 BB's. So a little bit of improvement.    mm |

I've never used an oil that didn't work. Gun oil should focus on the following areas: 1) Will it protect my gun from corrosion? Every oil eventually fails, but depending on your schedule of reapplying it and how to store, it's entirely possible to never experience this. 2) Will it dry off or migrate after prolong exposure? Entirely depends on how you store your firearms and how long between applying and firing. 3) How soon do I have to reapply while shooting? Again, it entirely depends how how much you shoot, the environment, the rate of fire, etc, etc going to play into this. Some grease/oil are better than other depending on your preferred use. |

I bought some of this about 4 years ago and it is actually very good oil. I use it on just about everything. I used to lube all my guns with it and then stopped because I went to a "branded" gun oil. The Nano-oil honestly seemed to be better. If I oiled a gun and put away, months later the oil was still visibly there and the guns always seemed to cycle faster/ harder..

I got a sample pack with my Sig SP2022. IMHO, its just like any other oil out there. Yes, the Lucas is a bit more viscous than say, Breakfree or SLIP 2000, but in the end they all do the same stuff. I oiled up 6 of my pistols with the lucas sample pack (slide rails, frame rails and outside of the barrel) and after about a week of just sitting in the safe, most of the lube has disappeared except for the oil on the outside of the barrel as I put more on that location. You can see a slight shine of lube on the frame rails, thats about it. I experienced the same results using the other mentioned brands. As others have stated, don't get caught up too much in the "which oil is better" crap...In the end, "X" oil is better than nothing YMMV

I also have never used a gun oil that didn't work but I have used ones that work much better than others. Have not tried the Lucas though. Discussion is good, move along if you want to be a cry baby we hear enough of that from our wives. Honestly though, different strokes for different folks. Some people geek out over this shit. Piss off with the whiny crap. |

I have several samples that came from various Sigs I've purchased. I tried it once on a range trip.Â
Couldnt tell any difference but didn't care for the smell of it, other then that I keep it around just in case I need it for something. I use slip2000 for all my guns. Their regular gun lube for general CLP and the EWL/EWL30 for lube. Use heir grease for slide rails and the bottom of my BCG. With all that said, the Lucas is probably really good lube and you shouldn't have any problem with it, I just didn't care for the odor. |

Anyone use the Lucas Extreme Duty gun oil. All I have used for the past four decades has been Sears Roebuck & Co. Household Oil (equivalent to 3-in-1). I have had zero malfunctions related to lubrication in that time. In fact, the only malfunctions of any kind that I have had have been from 9mm rounds loaded too light to cycle the action of my pistol. |

Not a great choice but better than nothing. I do have the somewhat unique experience that in the early 1990's I was stricken with a neurological condition that (temporarily) disabled me and other than a few times when I opened the gun safe up to allow guests or friends to inspect or handle some of my guns, they received no maintenance until 2014. When I returned to them, I found zero rust, zero corrosion and zero deterioration. So, the Sears Household Oil did exactly what was expected of it for 21 years. |
