I don't take grease to the range.

The purpose of grease is that it lasts a long time.

I do carry in my range bag a small size container of CLP.  If I need any lube I use that.

ETA .... Walmart and stores like that have a travel section, where very small travel sized containers are sold.  I would check those out and put my grease inside one of those little plastic bottles.

M1 and M14 lube tubes work.
Syringes also work.
I use XF-7 which comes in a syringe.
However for the range Slip EWL.

Containers I've used over the years:

I bought a box of a dozen clear-white Teflon jars from a lab supply house.  These were 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" and are proof against most all solvents.  They seal air and liquid tight.
These are cheap to buy.
Check lab supply houses online.

Got to a pharmacy and ask to buy a few of the larger diameter pill jars they send out prescription drugs in.  These are amber or green plastic and are air and water tight.  They come in various sizes, pick the shortest/widest they have.  If you're a customer they may just give you a few.

Watch your significant other's cosmetic containers.  Often they're the perfect size in glass or plastic.

I have this for my Garand but also use it on the cam pins in my AR's. It's filled with Mobil 1 synthetic grease. Easily refilled with my grease gun.

I went to my local drug store and got a free syringe and screw on cap. Easy to store and to apply but I agree  that I don't keep it in my range bag

Use an old shoe polish tin like Kiwi or Griffin. Everyone has a dried up container somewhere in the house.

The little jars that Carmex comes in, or (if you can find them), 35 mm film canisters.

REI or Amazon sells little containers called go tubbs. Colors are a little fruity but they work great.

I've had those go tubes leak in my ruck before.  Hard plastic screw top containers are more reliable.

My Go Tube have all been leak proof so far but they don't get tossed around like a ruck would.

The Nalgene or comparable bottles/ jars (clear'ish/ milky colored) that you get at The Container Store work very well.  I keep alcohol in mine and they have never leaked.

I have some little clear containers that I bought off Ebay that range in size from 1oz, 1/2oz and 1/4oz.  They were very cheap and do not leak.  The bad part is that you have to buy 10-20 at a time but they are cheap.  I put Aeroshell and Mobil 28 Grease (trigger grease) in them and gave them to friends.  I got stuck with a couple extra tubes of each after a friend canceled on going in with me.

I don't take the grease with me. But I do use a syringe at home. It was one given to my daughter when she had her wisdome teeth out. It has a long, narrow plastic tip designed to squirt a very fine stream of water. Perfect size for grease application.

I've repurposed the RX pill containers. They seem to work well for me and are just small enough to be easy to pack around if need be.

If you really want a small, compact way to carry grease,
get some of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Garand-grease-pieces-NORTHRIDGE-INTERNATIONAL/dp/B00DFAIZJA

You can usually find them cheap at gunshows. I have a few lying around the mancave, but never really use them.

You can clean out the grease that is in them and fill them with whatever grease you want.

Round clear ear-plug case from a Walmart set of the orange foam plugs. Top snaps on. Works great for me.
