Is it just me being very anal about how clean my rifles are or does it take everyone else like an hour and a half to clean a single ar also? Are there any tips to speed up the process? What do you guys think.

I used to be very anal every cleaning, but it gets old. Normal cleaning is just a bore snake three times down the barrel, but every 1000 rounds or so each gun gets a thorough cleaning. I throw on Game of Thrones or something like, and spend maybe an hour per gun, give or take a bit, but I get in every nook and cranny, scrub with Q-tips, etc. My AK's are exceptions, and only get a thorough cleaning maybe every 2500-3000 rounds.

I spend about an hour and half cleaning both my ARs and I spend about an hour on each of my two handguns. I find it relaxing so it doesn't bother me.

Normally a bore snake and make sure there is some lube on the important parts.

When I do a strip down cleaning I let everything soak in solvent for an hour or overnight then wipe off and lube. Most time is spent  in letting things soak. Not a lot of work involved. It is relaxing sitting at the workbench though.

LedHead26,

If I were in the battle field then the quickest was to get it clean is better. Otherwise I like a squeaky clean rifle just like anyone else so I take my time.
