A thread I commented on in reference to PTFE got me to thinking.......

Is there a problem with using PTFE based lubricants or lubricants containing PTFE?

I can remember reading a thread that advised against using them in the bore of a weapon due to a build-up of Teflon; is there any truth to this statement?

Nope.  Just a theoretical myth.  PTFE has been used in so many lubricants in the last few decades, including military formulas, that it would be an epidemic.

The old theory is that PTFE produces an acid when exposed to high heat and pressure.  Seeing as there is no chemistry to back up that theory, its just retarded.

Using a lube with PTFE will not damage the bore of your firearm.

Thanks....I do use PTFE based lubes such as Breakfree LP and CLP as well as my favorite TW25B.
