I have put off buying some type of hard case/toolbox for a long time, but am thinking about getting one now.
Want something decent sized but not huge, to keep a few cleaning supplies, tools, maybe some ammo/mags, etc in. Just to organize some of the crap that always seems to go to the range with me. Something that could double as bench storage/organizer at home would be nice too. Looked at Brownell's but nothing really seemed to jump out at me. Curious what you guys are using. Thanks. |

Go to Sears and check out their tool boxes. They also have some pretty nice tool bags. I was at Lowes yesterday and their toolbox selection blows. Yeah, a guy on snipers hide suggested a pretty nice craftsman cantilevered box. Looks a little on the small side, but still pretty nice for 24$. |

I use an older craftsman called the gto. It's like a plastic ammo can with two removable trays that go on top and has lockable latches on each end.
This is the newer version of it: http://www.sears.com/craftsman-tool-organizer-with-parts-storage/p-00959307000P?prdNo=21&blockNo=21&blockType=G21 |

I use fishing tackle boxes at home for storing small parts and cleaning supplies. I use the basic ones from the sporting goods section of Walmart that are just a single unit with adjustable dividers. They offer a variety of other models. Plano Link.
A plastic tool box from Sears or the orange empire with some of the tackle boxes should work fine. Consider getting one of the big tackle boxes from the start. I started with one small unit and now have three - cleaning supplies, upper parts, and lower parts. |

Also, I'm a noob to this and I know I've probably read something in the past but what parts should I try to have on hand. I see what he has but I'm not sure what all of it is. And where would you recommend buying these parts from? Thanks guys! The parts box that I have is a little excessive for the majority of people. I teach classes from time to time so have students that need repairs occasionally. I buy the majority of my gun parts from Brownells. For the average person, an extra bolt, gas rings, various springs, and an extractor will cover 95% of repairs that you would need to make. |

Husky tool bag from Home Depot. |

I agree about coltrifles setup.
I've already gotten a start, I ordered a clear, wide and low profile double layered case. Going to try and put most cleaning supplies. Then I may order something else to keep other range supplies. As for AR parts, I may try and use the top section of my new case for that. |

ColtRifle, that is awe inspiring. I want that. I may have to copy you on a slightly smaller scale. I agree, awesome setup. I wonder if these clear cases are Plano tackle organizers. They are. Bought all the cases including the tool box at Walmart. |

I am in the process of building a bench in the basement and was wondering what I was going to to for a box..yeah, this will pretty much be what I'm doing. Bravo |
