Good day, Bought a pair of Black rifles (a Bushmaster and a S&W M & P 15) in fear of a pending social crisis, so am starting from scratch. One comment I heard in a gunshop was to "run them wet". Is their truth to that opinion,or just another jaw in motion? If so, would someone be kind enough to explain what that entails? I'm retired, fixed income, so have shallow pockets which disallow affording the finer optics. In the sporting optic world, there may not be a better buy than the Redfield, being manufactured by Leupold and meeting all their quality control dictums. Is there such an "animal" for the AR platform rifles? Most of the cartridges will be reloads. I've loaded for over half a century but with one or two exceptions, not had to crimp the bullet. I've orderd RCBS dies (nobody has stock on anything ), and will follow their literature closely, but would appreciate any comments.
Have never been an alarmist and hope these will only see targets and 'yote fur! God Bless badshotlal |
| I have seen peoples guns dripping with oil and all it does is get slung down the bore and into your gas system. I have been told that too much oil in the bore can raise pressure dangerously high. Your clothes with get wet etc. When you store an over oiled gun most of it drips down into the buffer tube. I lube my BCG very lightly and focus on the area of the bolt that shows friction and the underside of the charging handle where the gas key rides. I am of the theory that less is more. |
