Ok, got the new Rock River, tearing it down and cleaning all the machining FOD, and gunk.

Problems:

1.  Every towel I use is leaving pieces behind, I've used 3 different kinds of towels and they all leave that white fuzzy shit behind.  I don't have this issue with my other guns, does anyone worry about this?  After a few min blowing on it removes some of the white fuzzy shit, but not all of it.

2. Is RemOil sufficient lubrication for lube points or is something heavier required?  I hate picking up an oily greasy firearm.

1. No, the lint falls off.

2. No, I wouldn't use Remoil.  Many hundreds of post about what folks think is the best lube, but CLP or Mobil One motor oil both work.

black tee shirts..or use a shaving brush to apply oil and solvent. Buy one of each...

Agreed about the Rem Oil - it just doesn't last long enough.

I stole some of my wife's make up sponges that are about $1 at target. They work real well for applying grease/oil and don't leave anything behind.

Nice idea about the shaving brush.  I'll pick up one of those tomorrow for that purpose.  Thanks.

I've remoil'd it for now, but I'll get some mobil 1, that's damn good oil and put that on it tomorrow.

Appreciate the tips.

Haven't tried this myself yet, but have you tried the microfiber cleaning cloths, like you find in the car wash section of the automotive department?  They may not leave behind fuzzies like a cotton or cotton blend cloth.

no but i will, good idea, that fuzz is a real pain in the ass

so far i've tried, terricloth (bad), 100% cotton cut up t-shirt (shitty), and an old cotton/polyester mix tshirt (eh not bad)  but they all leave lint behind

This.  Reappropriate a few old ones from your car care collection (you certainly wouldn't use anything less on your vehicles' paint would you?).

Lots of argument about which lubricant is best, but VERY VERY few people saying that it's Rem-Oil, and those people are wrong.

I have CLP and RemOil.  I use them both, and never had a problem even due to me only cleaning after 500-1000 rounds.  I use old white t-shirts to wipe surfaces and have never notices fuzzies anywhere.

Actually that is not a bad idea. My wife has a stash of them under the sink. Wonder what she will say when she spots some of them in my cleaning kit?

I think I will give one a try tonight.

Let me know what you think. It works real well for greasing my garand and other rifles. If you need to get in some tighter areas cut some smaller squares out of it and put a toothpick in it. It really cleans hard to get areas well, won't leave the dreaded fuzzes , and won't scratch.  I generally wipe down most guns with one at the end of cleaning.

You could try disposable lint free shop towels that the they sell at autoparts stores.  At home and overseas I've always used old t-shirts and never had any issues. I've always used old green t shirts so I've never noticed any lint but if its there its never done any harm.  Good luck and enjoy you new rifle..
