Just finished putting this together.  It's not 100% perfect yet as I would like to have doubles of every part I might need for my rifles but, it puts a smile on my face and made the old lady roll her eyes so, I figured I would share.

It's just a Plano tackle box I found at Dicks Sporting Goods for $24.   It's got 2 tiers and a good bit of space.  I found it humorous I was able to put the "upper parts" in the upper tier and the "lower parts" in the lower tier.  There was also a little room left to include some basic tools in the lower tier.  I want to get a smaller multi-too I can fit in there as well.  The top and bottom tiers weren't completely tight against their respective tops so I used some truck camper top foam to seal each compartment.

In the right side of the top tier there currently resides a full upper parts kit and a full lower parts kit and under those are a stripped upper and stripped lower receiver, I have gotten in the habit of buying another stripped lower receiver when I start a build...

What a great idea.

I have everything in a big plastic box.

I will get a tackle box too.

All of my things used to be in little baggies inside of the cardboard boxes they were shipped in.  The idea came from other posts on here but, I hadn't seen a box specifically like this one yet.   Just be careful because I looked at Lowes, then Wal-Mart, and then Dicks before I found this one.  Many tackle boxes have the tops open and the small AR parts can roll around and switch bins if there isn't a tight seal.   That's why I used the camper foam to seal each compartment.  Some springs are very similar but, do different functions.  Don't wanna get 'em mixed up. I also have a few small bags for things like the gas rings as they were sticking to the foam and I didn't want to loose any.  I want to get some oil and an AR15 specific cleaning items to go inside it where the tools are.  Hopefully make it the AR box. haha

I have been using tackle/parts boxes for years.
I still keep the small parts in the small bags because it allows separation by source and I can put multiple bags in one compartment.

I bought a bunch of small baggies over the weekend just for that reason. :-)

I had the same moment as I was googling "small parts storage"  haha

Great idea. Much better than the various cardboard boxes and bags I use now.

Exactly my system before.  It was a PITA to find stuff.  I took the box with me on my range trip over the weekend "just because"  hahaha.   Got another Eye Roll from the wife, so it was worth it.

I'll take a picture of mine when I get home this afternoon.  I went with a little bigger box but I have room for tools, parts, cleaning stuff, and then some room left over for when it hits me that I am missing something lol

I just recieved a new craftsman tool box with pull out trays; This is what i am using it for also. Tools, spare parts and portable clamp vice. Carry to range and where ever i shoot. Had a fishing box but wanted a upgrade from that. But it worked for years.

Be careful if the small parts aren't in baggies.  I looked at some of the pull out tool boxes and they had gaps at the top that would let the pins and springs mix if the box was tipped over closed.

I use a similar box for electrical crimp connectors.

Walmart has great deals on these, and also has smaller ones.

Not sure if Wal-Mart has little baggies but I got a pack of 100 2x3 plastic baggies from Micheals for something like $2.50

They are very convenient. I like the ones with the removable trays so I can have one small box for AR parts, another for AK parts, pistol bits, etc. Then if I'm working on swapping out springs in a Glock all I have to do is  grab the tray and pull it out instead of hauling the whole thing around.

and here I was thinking I was the only one clever enough to use a tackle box....

I've seen alot of spare parts/tool boxes, but I've never seen anyone who toted a spare lower with them

And I have to know; what are the crayons for?

Crayons might be for doing roll markings.  I do like the spare lower in the kit.  I wish I had room for one in my kit but I don't. So I just keep mine in the safe.

It wasn't an advertisement

It is an honest suggestion.  I have nothing to do with Damage industries as a company other then my satisfaction with their parts and service.   I don't even live in the same state.    I will leave it off for now though.

Mine has a spare upper and a spare lower in the top box on the left under the full LPKs.    Once I gather together the upper parts it will be committed to a 300blk pistol... but there will be another lower swapped in it's place  haha.

The Crayons are for coloring roll marks. I went through a vanity phase with my rifles where I thought that was cool. Now I just spray paint them, run them hard, and let the chips fall where they may
