| I am rather new to the AR style guns. I have read in several places about home brew lubes. I am curious as to why they almost always use Mobil 1 synthetic. Would other synthetics work as well? |

Basically because Mobil was one of the earlier synthetics and is now one of the most popular. Sounds better than Walmarts "Tech" brand too. Any decent synthetic will work though. this. your weapon cannot read the brand name, so it wont know thw differance.
