[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Cleaning rod guide?

Do i really need one? I feel like it is pointless because there is lube in and on the bcg anyway. Or is the bore cleaner a harsher chemical than clp and will eat away at the upper?

not used for the solvents, but the rod. in a close to mil-spec rifle, not really needed. as the guide just guides therod to the center of the bore and to allow the user to be a little lacks in his care.

The rod guide is useful to help prevent the rod from knocking around in the chamber and keeping the excess solvent/etc into the chamber
