I had this discussion today after an awesome day of shooting including breaking in 2 new builds (unfortunately not my rifles, damn it ); what smells better; Hoppe's #9, cordite/burned powder, or that hard to describe burned oil/ ozone smell when you rack the bolt several times on a freshly cleaned AR?

Big hoppes fan. Their elite gun oil smells tastey also.

I like the smell of Hoppe's #9, burnt powder, and CLP. I really miss the smell of leaded gasoline, it was delightful.

I wondered if the ozone smell after racking my AR was normal... but I do like the smell of burned cordite. Also, gasoline.

Nothing better than the smell of e85 burning in a car with no cats. It smells identical to tequila!
