While I realize that this post may elicit buku responses, I nevertheless would like to know what items, fluids, oils etc, make up the ideal AR15 cleaning kit. I have a large selection of rods, brushes holders etc, but never set aside a kit specifically for my AR. Since I was a Nasal Radiator in the war, all I had to worry about was a side arm and no AR/M16. So any help would be appreciated. Let's keep it real though boys. And thanks and blue side up.

My AR-15 field cleaning kit (most came with a Bushmaster kit purchased at Gander Mountian)  :

- Steel jointed cleaning rod
- Boresnake
- Breakfree CLP
- Chamber brush
- Q-TIps
- Bore brush
- Otis .223 cleaning patches

I usually spray chamber with brake parts cleaner after shooting.  I run some Sweets 762 through every once in awhile to get rid of heavy duty fouling.

You really can't go wrong with the issue kit. Can be had for about $15 in a buttstock or square pouch.
Some people like Otis or boresnakes but that steel rod comes in very handy if you ever have to clear a bore obstruction in the field.

Get some fancier stuff like Dewey rods and scrapers for the bench at home.
