I'm interested in opinions and techniques on breaking in a new barrel.

Does it make any difference if the barrel is/is not chrome-lined?

Thanks,

If the barrel is chrome lined, no break in is needed, OR even possible.
The hard chrome is so hard no break procedure in can smooth the bore.

If the barrel is uncoated steel or stainless steel break in is possible, but whether it's needed is a matter of some debate.
I'd suggest doing whatever the manufacturer recommends.

Note that a "Chrome Moly" barrel is NOT chrome lined.
