What parts should I carry in my range bag to make sure that I can keep running for my AR.  I know there are a couple of things that are the week link, but what do you guys carry as a rule?

Thanks
Dan

G.I. cleaning rod.

Lube.

Spare firing pin.

Blanket.

Asst'd tools.

Flashlight.

Anything more than that, you're going to need a spare BCG, a spare LPK, a set of tools specific to assembly, with a vice and vice blocks.

A cleaning kit is not a bad idea.  The only thing that ever shut me down was the lack of a chamber brush or broken shell extractor to get a separated case out of my chamber.

Never seen a firing pin break.... they can get damaged from primer pierces... but I've never seen one break to the point of making a gun inoperable.  I suppose a spare bolt. but....

I just bring a spare gun usually.

Here's what I do for FA shoots.

Yes, a complete BCG is one way to bring the essentials.  But, truth is, the bolt carrier is the one thing I skip.  Unless it wasn't staked properly it will outlast every other component.  So I just strip a BCG and bring all other parts.

If far from home I bring a FCG kit complete with all the springs and pins.  Requisite punches/tools, of course.  Most likely FCG problem will be a weakening hammer spring......if you had to pick just one.

Lube, cleaning kit, broken shell extractor.  I shouldn't have to mention mags, but mags are the part most likely to eff up.

I have to admit, I keep 'planning to get' broken shell extractors.

It always slips my mind til I read a post like yours.

OTOH, I always bring at least 2, and usually 3, rifles - so I have swappable lowers with me.

I have a few uppers that are different from the other standard configurations I bring, so I bring spares for those.

.22 springs and parts for the Spike's dedicated upper.

5.45 firing pin.

Most of the rest of it either hot-swaps, or I shoot something else.

I never bothered to bring one till a few years ago a tracer reload front end got stuck in my shorty.  This was before I had read not to run brass case after a ton of Wolf.  Anyway, got it out with the old lodge a cleaning brush and pound it out from the front trick.  Since bringing the proper tool I haven't stuck anything.....not sure exactly how it works.  But I figure someone will talk me through it.  Hope I never use it.

I bring an extra rifle, cleaning kit, and a standard full parts kit. the parts kit is in a pouch and when I use something it gets replaced so I know it's all there.

Cleaning roll made up of rod, patches, militec, AR cleaning tools hand tools.

Spare parts roll made up of a LPK and BCG

Spare rifle(s)

If my shit breaks in the field I normally just go to another rifle and fix my problems when I get back at my shop.  When on a RON trip I take several tool boxes of spares and tools.  Lots of ammo.
