Hi all,
I am new to the site. and a new owner of a stag arms model 4 . I was wondering what everbody thinks of bore snakes. i have recently purchased one. i have yet to use it.
i am not sure of the best way of using. do you use dry or like regular cleaning with patches, cleaner and oil?. any thoughts and info would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Just always feed it through from the chamber to the muzzle. For my AR's I use it dry before using patches to clean and lube. It removes most of the gunk before the clean/lube process. For old military rifles and after shooting corrosive ammo boresnakes work great soaked in ammonia/water solution. Pull thru a few times then clean and lube with patches. Great tool for the purpose.

I like them.  They're quick and easy when I don't have time for a proper cleaning.

Bore Snakes Rule. Run them  down the tube dry a couple of times, that way nothing sticks to them. When they get dirty, wash in hot soapy water, rince & let dry. then use them again.

I keep one in my rifle case. I pull it through the barrel just before I shoot. That way, I know that the barrel is clear. That bore is not very large; I've heard stories about spiders, bugs, oil running down from the action, and god only knows what else causing at least a partial bore obstruction. I feel safer doing this.
