Should I add some solvent down the barrel before I use a boresnake? Or should it be run dry?

That works. I wouldnt run it dry. I personaly put solvent on the leading side of the brush and oil behind the brush and pull it through chamber to muzzle.
Foaming bore cleaner might be a good pre snake. I've never used it but IM gonna give it a shot.
